About Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center

Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center (CHSC) is a Cleveland, Ohio–based nonprofit founded in 1921. The organization provides comprehensive hearing, speech-language, and deaf services through audiology, speech-language pathology, ASL, and community outreach programs.

CHSC’s mission is to empower individuals with communication challenges while fostering inclusivity through expert care, education, and advocacy.

The Challenge

CHSC launched an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter service as a new revenue-generating offering, with profits reinvested to support its broader nonprofit programs. However, awareness of the service was extremely limited.

At the start of the engagement:

  • There was very little visibility for the ASL Interpreter offering
  • Bookings averaged around 10 per month
  • Interpreter requests were handled manually by administrative staff, creating a time-intensive processually by administrative staff, creating a time-intensive process 

CHSC needed a way to increase awareness, drive consistent bookings, and streamline how interpreter requests were captured—all without increasing staff burden.

The Solution

We implemented a focused paid search and conversion strategy using Google Ad Grants, which provides eligible nonprofits with free Google Search advertising.

Our approach included:

  • Conducting keyword research to identify high-intent ASL Interpreter service searches
  • Launching Google Ad Grant campaigns targeting those terms
  • Creating a dedicated ASL Interpreter service landing page tailored to people seeking interpreter services
  • Embedding a booking form directly on the landing page, allowing visitors to request an interpreter online rather than through manual administrative processes

This strategy aligned awareness, demand capture, and operational efficiency into a single digital flow.

The Results

The program delivered sustained, measurable outcomes:

  • 16 ASL interpreter-related keywords ranked in the top 3 
  • 26 keywords ranked in the top 10
  • An average of 247 page views per month to the ASL booking page
  • An average of 100 ASL interpreter bookings per month 
  • A 23.2% conversion rate from paid search ads

Since implementation, monthly contacts and bookings increased from approximately 10 per month to more than 100 per month, representing a tenfold increase in engagement and lead generation.
